FRAUD ALERT – Fraudulent Unemployment Claims
During the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, there has been an increase by scammers in the filing of fraudulent unemployment claims
If you have been a victim of a fraudulent unemployment claim, please take the immediate following steps:
- Report the fraud to the Bellwood Police Department so we can respond to the Notice of Claim accurately;
- Report the fraud to the Illinois Department of Employment Security at (800) 814-0513. Keep a record of who you spoke to, the date, and time;
- Visit IdentityTheft.gov to report the fraud to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) and get help with the next important recovery steps; and
- Request your free credit reports via www.annualcreditreport.com and review them for
