Homeland Security & Emergency Management
The department provides auxiliary personnel support and equipment to the Police and Fire departments.
Building Department
The department works to improve the safety of all citizens whether they are homeowners, tenants, commercial businesses or contractors. The Building department conducts exterior inspections to maintain and promote property values.
Community Development & Human Resources
The office facilitates community outreach and development; identifies and solicits funding sources; and tracks projects to completion. The Human Resources function develops and administers programs to increase Bellwood’s effectiveness as an employer.
Corporation Counsel
Finance Department
The Comptroller’s office is responsible for financial activity in the Village and provides readily accessible, timely and accurate information to citizens, the Village Board and departments.

The Bellwood Fire Department provides a wide range of professional services and resources, including: fire suppression, emergency ambulance service, fire prevention, life safety inspections, public education, CPR classes, fire safety talks, school classroom education, fire safe house, fire station tours, fire investigations, hazardous materials mitigation, technical rescues, mentoring program and parades and block parties.

The department’s mission is to prevent and suppress crime by promoting, preserving and providing a sense of security, safety and quality service to residents and to those who pass within our borders.
Public Services Department
Public Services staff maintains and enhances streets, water supply and sewers, and oversees recycling. Additional responsibilities include street and alley sweeping, storm maintenance, grass leaf pickup, and tree trimming and removal.
Water Department
The department’s goals are to provide high-quality water that meets state and federal standards; meet future water demands; deliver increased water volume and pressure; and furnish water that is safe and palatable for the community.
Zoning Department
The department processes requests for re-zonings, conditional uses, special exceptions, variances and administrative appeals.
