Village of Bellwood Lifts Boil Order Today After Clearance From EPA
The Village of Bellwood has received official clearance from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency to lift the boil order that had been in place now that the EPA has tested water samples provided by the village. Effectively immediately, residents do NOT have to boil water that is used for drinking or cooking needs before consumption. Water used for bathing did not need to be boiled.
The EPA tested water 29 samples provided by Bellwood that were collected from locations around the village. The boil order could not be lifted until the village received clearance from the EPA.
The boil order was instituted during the holiday weekend after extreme cold weather impacted the village’s water tower system and caused two water main breaks.
