The village clerk serves as the official keeper of the municipal records, and as such, is sometimes described as the “historian” of the community.

The responsibilities of the clerk are numerous, and defined by state and local statutes, including:

  • presenting the agenda and transcribing and keeping the minutes for Board and committee meetings
  • acting as deputy registrar for the Cook County clerk
  • filing all official documents with the county
  • publication of bid notices and presiding over bid openings
  • record keeper of all ordinances
  • presides over local elections
  • maintains financial records
  • provides new residents with “welcome” packets
  • and ensures that the municipality’s conduct in business is maintained with the highest standards of integrity and transparency

The Office also assists seniors and oversees the Dial-A-Ride Program, Youth Summer Work Program and various community events.
